If what you really want to do is teach high school and help with the drama program, or do theater on the side as a hobby, this is the way to go.

With a minor, you are just involved enough to get your fix, but your main focus is on getting “a real job.”  There are some things to watch for in a program, if your goal is to minor.

If your interest is in tech, talk to the teachers in the tech department before deciding on a school.  Some BFA programs limit the attendance to their advanced tech courses, and you may not be able to take the classes you find more interesting.  For that reason, looking into smaller theater departments with a BA track may be more beneficial.  Also, some theater minors seriously assume an interest in acting.  Find out ahead of time how flexible the minor track is, and make sure you can take the tech classes you are actually interested in.  Otherwise you may find yourself disappointed.
